Lord of the Stings!

Lord of the Stings!

FACT#1: Did you know? Unlike a bee, which can only sting once, the European wasp can sting repeatedly. It emits a chemical scent that alerts other European wasps to attack. Yikes!

The digital creative team at 372 Digital has been fortunate to have worked with CoreEnviro Solutions to create a new website (eWasp.com.au) committed to providing extensive information about the European wasp which is an established pest in Australia. The website includes multiple resources on different insects, safety tips, first aid and pest control contacts.

The website looks modern and fresh, and is easily navigable with a well designed logo designed in-house here at 372 Digital. Along with the new website, our developers also created a mobile app which is now publicly available! The eWasp mobile app is an easy-to-use GPS mapping tool that displays reported and untreated European wasp nest. It also allows users to easily report a nest by tapping the pin icon and dropping it into the desired location which then submits a report to the eWasp team for action.

Why should you report a European wasp nest?
European wasps are much more aggressive than bees and will attack when their nests are disturbed. Although they are painful, isolated wasp stings hardly ever causer serious problems. However, in susceptible people, the venom can cause allergic reactions. Roughly 1 in 10 people who are stung two or more times become allergic, which means they’ll experience severe reactions to any further stings!

Lack of predators and good weather conditions means that the European wasp is an increasing problem in Australia. They prefer to nest near humans so they can scavenge for food and sweet drinks which is why they love hovering in picnic and barbecue areas.

FACT#2: A European wasp nest can contain more than 100,000 wasps!

The most effective way to get rid of a wasp nest is to destroy the nest and for that, you’ll need an expert. For more information, check out the website www.eWasp.com.au or download the free mobile app “eWasp”.
